RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER

 

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of auto racing events and to establish minimum acceptance for such auto racing events.

These rules shall govern the condition of all events and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.

NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF, OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS.

THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS ARE INTENDED AS A GUIDE FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE SPORT AND ARE IN NO WAY A GUARANTEE AGAINST INJURY OR DEATH OF A PARTICIPANT, SPECTATOR OFFICIAL OR OTHERS.

The W.E.S.C.O. Officials shall be empowered to permit deviation from any of the specification of rules herein, or impose any further restrictions that, in their opinion, do NOT alter the minimum acceptable requirements.

NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS.

Any interpretation of, or deviation from, these specifications, or rules is left to the discretion of the W.E.S.C.O. Officials. Their decision is final.

Tour Rules

 

An understanding of all rules herein is acknowledged upon entry of each participating to the race track. If there is not a specific rule that says you can, than you cannot! Simplicity and common sense shall prevail.

 

There will be no grace races for non-WESCO members or non-legal cars.

 

Safety Rules

1. Drivers uniform, underwear, gloves, face wear, neck collars, socks, and arm restraints must all be nomex. Footwear must be racing apparel. All items must be worn during racing, and failure to do so will result in a $50.00 fine for the first offense, $500.00 fine for the second offense.

 2. Helmets must have a Snell Foundation rating of SA2010 or greater, approved to cover base of skull. Must be approved by the safety committee. Face shields are required.

 3. Approved nylon lap, shoulder, and anti-sub belts are mandatory with common quick release and belts securely mounted to frame. Minimum width of 3” lap and 3” shoulder belts are required. All belts must have date of manufacture. Date of manufacture not to exceed three years of age. Stress point must be shoulder height. No heating, bending or welding of safety belt D rings or mounting hardware. Mounting bolts must be grade 8 or better. Seat belts are subject to safety committee approval.

 4. A full firewall is required between engine and driver. Driver compartment should be sealed as well as possible from water and flame.

 5. Hoods are required and must cover radiator, cap and engine compartment.

 6. Belly pans under the engine are recommended on pavement and not allowed on dirt. Belly pan in driver’s compartment must extend from frame rail to frame rail, and fire wall to under leading edge of driver’s seat but cannot extend under fuel tank.

 7.    a)Throttle linkage subject to Safety Committee approval. Throttle pedal must have toe strap and a minimum of 3 return springs on throttle linkage at the injection/carburetor.

b) Main fuel line must have ¼ turn shut off valve between tank and pump. Gas cap must be approved racing type. No plastic fuel lines. Must be reinforced pressure hose.

8. All cars must have fuel bladders or approved type fuel cell. Subject to tech committee approval. Tank must be vented in a manner that will not leak if upset. 

9. On/Off Toggle or Push/Pull engine kill switches required. 

10. Batteries must be securely fastened by steel hold down brackets and covered to retain acid.

11. No glass, except instruments. No mirrors.

12. Scatter-shield must be approved armor type bell housing. Driveline must be covered in driver’s compartment; cover must be minimum 1/16” steel plus a 1” x ¼” steel strap around driveline of open type of subject to safety committee inspection. Approved torque tube restraint strap mandatory.

13. Wrap around metal highback bucket seat with built in headrest of rigid back construction, headrest minimum 5” x 7”. Seat to be securely fastened with a minimum of three grade 5 3/8” bolts with fender washers required. Seat back to extend to top of shoulders.

14. No car will have pitman arm or drag link inside of roll cage.

15. No coolers attach to roll cage.

16. Roll bar cage must be 2” higher than the drivers head. Drivers head must also clear a straight edge run from the back to the front of the roll cage hoops. Roll cage must be padded on the upper cage in the front, back and both sides. Subject to the safety committee’s approval.

17. No wheel weights.

18. Wheel wing nut not to extend past outside of wheel rim.

19. Foot operated hydraulic brakes in good working order required. Dirt – rear brake required front brake optional. Asphalt - must have front and rear brakes. Subject to Safety Committee Approval.

20. Wheels must be reinforced or approved for racing. Right side must be double center or an approved racing wheel.

21. All cars must have approved type hub on right front. Aluminum hubs ok. 

22. Front, rear and side nerfs required at the beginning of the race program. Cars must have rear nerfs securely attached to finish a race. Front and side nerfs if lost due to damage is acceptable. All nerfs and bumpers will be attached by (Minimum) 3/16” bolts, or other, subject to safety committee approval

23. Knee guards or padding around steering box is required.

24. Wheel mudguards may be foam, metal or plastic type. If plastic or metal plates are used, they must be attached by at least 3 fasteners.

25. No electric fuel pumps.

26. While on the track, all drivers are required to use a one way RACEceiver, to receive communications from WESCO and/or track officials.

Chassis Rules

1. Any upright type chassis allowed. No offset chassis allowed “Roadster type, etc. “Subject to Board of Directors decision. Single tube frame must be minimum 2” OD x .120” wall tubing or tubing of equal strength. 22” minimum width of frame rails at front roll bar. All main roll cage material must be minimum of .095 (4130 chromoly tubing).

2. All roll bars must be made of minimum 1 1/4” OD x .120” wall or 1 3/8” OD x .095” wall 4130 seamless steel tubing or 1 3/8” OD x .120” wall mild steel tubing. Must be of squirrel cage design. Must have “A” or “X” brace behind the driver, All bracing must be minimum 1” OD x .65” wall steel tubing. No pipe fittings or lightening holes. Roll cage must be back and forward braced at 2/3” heights. All ends of roll bars and/or squirrel cage must be welded securely to frame. A 1/8” hole may be drilled in each section to allow for wall inspection. All welded corners of squirrel cage must have 2” x 2” x 1/8” gusset or equivalent. Rear roll bar bracing must prevent fuel cell from sliding into the driver. If feet are below single main frame rail, then under hoop will conform to roll cage specifications.

3. Side nerf bumpers required; should not exceed past width of rear tires. Front nerf should be at least 12” wide and not wider than frame rails and be in front of wheels. Rear nerf width must not exceed center to center of rear tire thread must extend to rear of tires. Rear nerf must have at least 6” vertical contact depth. Midpoint of contact surface of front and rear nerf must be approximately 18” above the ground. All nerfs must be a minimum ¾” OD. Any sheet metal on side nerfs must have edges rolled in.

4. All cars must have top wing at all times. Except W.E.S.C.O. sanctioned non wing event shows. During sanctioned non wing shows, no top wing or nose wing will be allowed.

5. Top wing surface or surfaces are limited to a total of 25 square feet. Side panels limited to 30” vertical height and length not to extend beyond 12” total past the front or rear top surface. 2” gurney lip maximum. Nose wing limited to 6 square feet.

6. Suspension optional; but must have at least one working shock per wheel. Front ends optional. Steering optional must be approved by the safety committee.

7. Wheelbase minimum of 82” thread minimum of 48” wide center to center. Wheel and tread width optional; single tire and wheel only.

8. Numbers must be neat and in a contrasting color and top wing numbers on the sides are mandatory and must measure 16” high.

9. No four wheel drive cars.

10. Engine must be in front of driver, and must be positioned between main frame rails and no more than ½ inch off center.

11. No hydraulic slider wings. Wing not to be driver adjustable from cockpit. Subject to Tech Committee Approval.

12. Right rear wheel with non-beadlock will run 16 lbs of air pressure minimum.

13. Cars will have the option of running a sprint style fuel tank.

14. Minimum weight of car and driver combined is 1625 pounds. During sanctioned W.E.S.C.O. non winged shows the minimum weight will be 75 pounds less for the minimum standard of 1550 pounds. No addition of fuel or weights prior to weighing after completion of race. If inspection required top three cars must immediately report to scales at completion of race. Cars found underweight shall forfeit points and money for that night only. Weight added for ballast must be bolted securely between the frame and between the axles, subject to Tech Committee approval. Top three finishers in heats and mains may be subject to inspection immediately after the race. A random car can be subject to inspection at any time.

15. Tires optional. Except on asphalt, right rear tire must be Hoosier 17/28.0-15 2045 compound or American Racer 17/28-15 132 compound. On asphalt only, you must start the main event with the same right rear tire you qualified on.

Engine Rules

1. American or Canadian piston type engine stock type block only.

2. 365 cubic inches, maximum.

3. Stock production crank only. No stroker cranks. Any steel rod, No aluminum, titanium or other exotic materials.

4. No aluminum heads or blocks. Any 23 degree cast iron head as cast may be used. Configuration may be subject to Board Approval.

5. No porting or polishing heads or port matching. No angle milled heads or milling of intake side of heads. Flat milling of heads allowed.

6. Aluminum production intake manifold okay. No internal altering of manifold.

7. Fuel injection or multiple carburetors, no down nozzle injection. All engines must have a maximum of 2 3/16 inch injection stack or restrictor – restriction must be a minimum of 3 inches in depth.

8. No turbo-chargers or superchargers.

9. Stock style, full roller, and shaft mount rocker arms are legal.

10. Flat tappet or hydraulic cams. No mushroom or roller cams.

11. Flat top piston only. No pistons above deck. Domed pistons allowed on 292 cubic inch or smaller motors. Subject to piston inspection at the Board of Directors request.

12. Type of oil pan optional. Dry sump oil system allowed.

13. Fuel alcohol only. No nitro or nitrous oxide.

14. Contain radiator run off – bleed can or into headers acceptable.

Tour Rules

Code of Conduct

1.   COOPERATION WITH OFFICIALS

a.    All pit crews, drivers and owners must cooperate with officials at all times to help put on a good show.

2.    RESPONSIBILITY

a.    The car owner and/or driver will be responsible for the conduct of all persons associated with that car.

b.    Any person with the exception of WESCO officials or officers that goes to the tower or flag stand will be assessed a fine of fifty dollars ($50.00) to be charged against the car owner or the car the person is associated with.

3.   UNBECOMING CONDUCT

Note: Will NOT be tolerated from any individual and all rules will be enforced.

a.    Any driver, car owner, crew member, or any person who  at any time uses improper language to officials, or officers in charge of the races may be immediately reprimanded, expelled from the track, and or be subjected to a fine of one hundred dollars ($100.00).

b.     Unbecoming conduct in front of the audience will be cause for suspension and/or a minimum one hundred dollar ($100.00) fine, to be paid in CASH ONLY before the car and/or person involved will be allowed to further compete with WESCO at the discretion of the BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

c.    Any driver, car owner, crew member or person involved with a car who at any time shoves, jostles, pushes, strikes or attempts to strike an official or officer will be fined a maximum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) and suspended up to one year, dependent upon the decision of the BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

d.   Any driver, car owner, crew member or person involved with a car is found fighting in the pits, infield or anywhere on the track grounds will be fined a minimum of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) and/or suspended dependent upon the decision of the BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

e.    Any car owner, driver or crew member detracting from the appearance of the show, or anyone appearing to be or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, shall not be allowed to compete in the races or be in or about the pit area.  Drugs will not be tolerated in any manner nor will drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the conclusion of all racing events.  Infractions will carry a one hundred dollar ($100.00) fine and/or a thirty (30) day suspension dependent upon the decision of the BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

f.     If, in the opinion of an official, a car stops on the track unnecessarily, the car shall be disqualified from the remainder of the event.

g.   Track rules overrule WESCO codes of conduct when there is a conflict.

4. FOUL DRIVING

  1. Deliberate spinning, hitting, excessively bumping another car is strictly forbidden and carries a black flag, a one hundred dollar $100.00 minimum fine, the loss of one lap and/or the loss of points for the event. This decision is rendered by the Official. Any driver who intentionally drives off of the racing surface (example tires over the white line) to enhance their racing position will be penalized by the Official or Flagman whose decision will be final.
